About the Company

The Compagnie Lunatic creates sensitive and unique performances where aerial acrobatics, set design, and live music are intimately connected. The creations stem from long-standing artistic collaborations between Cécile Mont-Reynaud, an architect by training, aerial acrobat, and director, and set designers and/or artists from various disciplines — notably Sika Gblondoumé, Hélène Breschand, Wilfried Wendling, Eric Deniaud, and Gilles Fer, who has designed and built all the original sets for the company for 20 years. More than just frames for aerialists, the structures and apparatus become landscapes to explore, supporting imagination and dramaturgy as much as acrobatic possibilities.

Since 2000, the company has performed in theaters, public spaces, tents, natural environments, barges, schools, early childhood venues, wastelands, and other unusual places. Since the 2012 show Marche ou rêve, the company has focused particularly on creating for young and very young audiences, where sensory experience, spontaneity, and creativity take precedence, while also bringing adults into the here and now. At the same time, the company continues ambitious regional projects that blend research, creation, distribution, and artistic workshops. The Mue (2013-2018) and La Vie des Lignes (2020) projects, strongly inspired by BMC®*, provide a common thread for both the creations and regional projects.

BMC® Body Mind Centering: A somatic approach that studies anatomy (skeleton, muscles, organs, nervous systems...) in connection with developmental stages, from the womb to walking. This inspiring research reveals qualities and structures that relate the body to both the natural and the familial, social, and political environments.

An active member of the Puzzle Collective, the Ile d’Enfance platform for young audiences, and Scènes d’Enfance-ASSITEJ, the Compagnie Lunatic has been funded by the DRAC Île-de-France since 2020. It has been partnered since 2019 with Dunois/Théâtre du Parc - Scene for a Planetary Garden, at the Parc Floral de Paris, and Un Neuf Trois Soleil! for the 2022-23 season.
